Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) – Legacy Module
Class time will be 32 hours - 8 (4) hour sessions

Explore the basic concepts of managing the flow of materials in a supply chain. In this class you receive a complete overview of material flow, from internal and external suppliers, to and from your organization. The basic concepts in managing the complete flow of materials in a supply chain from suppliers to customers are covered in the Basics module. This module covers manufacturing, distribution, service, and retail industries. This includes the fundamental relationships in the design, planning, execution, monitoring, and control that occur. Knowledge of the material in this module is assumed as a prerequisite for the other APICS CPIM modules, which cover similar topics in much greater depth.

CPIM Part II – New module 3 sections with one course 
Class time will be 48 hours – 12 (4) hour sessions

Dates: 10/30/17 – 12/18/17 -  No classes 12/25/17 and 1/1/18
Classes resume 1/8/18 – 1/29/18 

Time: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

1st Section will explore aligning resources with the strategic plan, configuring and integrating operating processes to support the strategic plan, and implementing change. This includes an understanding of how market requirements drive the resources and processes of an organization. Explore processes used to develop sales and operations plans and learn to identify and assess internal and external demand and forecasting requirements.  

2nd Session will explore master scheduling, and distribution planning. Provides the knowledge for evaluation of both supply and demand planning for mid- to long-term demand. Includes detailed descriptions of material requirements planning (MRP), capacity requirements planning (CRP), inventory management practices, and procurement and supplier planning. Provides a working knowledge of the tools and techniques for planning of inventory, including planning techniques such as MRP, CRP, safety stock, lean, TOC, and projects.

3rd Section will help students to understand the effect of using each technique; know standard measurements for inventory, materials, capacity and supplier performance; and recognize when to escalate issues. Focus on the areas of prioritizing and sequencing work, executing work plans and implementing controls, reporting activity results, and providing feedback on performance. The course explains techniques for scheduling and controlling production processes, the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans, and the control and handling of inventories.
